The Copy List

If you had ten copies of yourself...what would you have them do? Keep in mind all their memories are downloaded into your mind at the end of the day. Anyway, here is my list.

1.) One to attend all my core classes.
If I were to have one copy attend all my core classes, then I would have time to take (and learn about) classes that pertain to more interesting subjects. Also, given that I would know what they learned this would give me an advantage in academics.

2-3.) Two to study all my core subjects.
One to study science and geometry, the other to study history and English. This is very time-saving, given I could be attending to other important matters while the copies study for me.

4.) One to read all the classic novels I do not have the time to read.
This is also another time-saving thing. As much as I love classics, I really do not have the same motivation to read them as I do more modern novels. Technically it would be me reading them anyway.

5.) One to run my blogs.
This copy would run both this blog and my other blogs. I would become an excellent blogger this way.

6-7.) Two to watch all my siblings.
Seriously, this would be a major help. You have no idea, really.

The other three copies I am unsure of what I would have them do. Perhaps I would allow them to do whatever it is they would want, just to see what they would do (although I feel I already know, obviously).

The New Rule

I disagree with the new rule pertaining to the use of cell phones - that is, the fact that we cannot use them in any buildings or hallways. I understand why they would be banned in the classrooms, since that is a time to learn; however, certain situations may arise when one may need to use them in between classes. For example, given that we are on a college campus and many of us do not live near the campus, our parents may need to contact us if transportation changes. Sometimes they need to contact us with personal things as well. This is a difficult situation, and hopefully we are able to find common ground.

The Neighbors Don't Like It

Today marks the two month anniversary of your son becoming one of them - one of the zombies. It's October fifth, 2014. You venture into the kitchen and pour yourself a tall glass of ice tea before going into the compact living room. You take a seat on your beloved red leather couch. After a few sips of your tea you begin to reflect on the day that changed everything for the worst.
Two months ago, August fifth 2014, was just a normal day. Your son used to make a joke about no day being normal since the outbreak, and he was right. Given that he was turning sixteen in December, you decided to was time took him with you to get supplies. After all, he was old enough and two people are always better than one. So you drove out to what used to be the local grocery store with him in the passenger seat. Usually, there was only one or two zombies around, but that day...
Once they got inside, you realized too late your mistake: you didn't check first. You got trapped, surrounded by two many zombies. It was a miracle you two got out at all. However, when he began changing you couldn't bring yourself to end it. Instead, you locked him up in the basement, kept him safe.
News spread like a wildfire of what had happened. Your neighbors - well, they were nowhere near understanding. To this day, they feel his death is overdue. He's a risk, they tell you. He's already gone. But he's your son, and what kind of father would you be if you let him die?
You sigh, noticing your glass is now empty. You suppose you can lie - say he's gone. You fear what they might try to do if they find out he's still there. You go back into the kitchen and began to put a small meal together for you son. Whatever are you going to do?

The Comfort List

When things get rough, what do you turn to?
Well, in this post I will present to you some of the things I take comfort in.

     1.) "August Rush."
This is an incredible movie from 2007 directed by Kirstein Sherdian. It's about an orphan who uses his musical talents in order to find his parents. It is quite unknown and I recommend it to everyone (even if it is not your style). Seriously, it is better than it sounds.
     2.) Sweaters
They are just really comforting and always a go-to item.
3.) Bastille, John Mayer, Lana Del Rey, Sam Smith, and Johnny Cash music.
This list of musicians are (as expected) my favorites. In every case, I'll listen to one of them since they tend to level out with whatever emotion I have at the time.
     4.) Any book.
Whatever book I choose in a situation usually depends on my mood - or rather, what I'm in the mood to read. Reading provides an escape from reality for a short time (thus why I take comfort in it).
     5.) "Rebel Without a Cause."
This is a classic movie. It is a must-watch whether you like classics or not. I am going to be very disappointed if you have not at least heard of it. It stars James Dean and is an excellent movie.

Anyway, what are some things on your Comfort List?

Poetic Devices Used in my Last Poem

As poems go, poetic devices are required.

I used four. I divided my poem into two halves. Each consist of three stanzas. The first half ("Where I'm From") is about past circumstances and fragments of memories from my childhood. The second half ("Where I'm Going") is about current circumstances and where I hope to go. I used an alternating rhyme scheme - along with some similes and metaphors.

Where I'm From

First Stanza: This talks about how I was born in winter in a city that has never been considered "good" (thus why I described the city as sort of ramshackle). "A family with no reason" comes from the point that I was not well-planned for.

Second Stanza: This is just about how I was constantly moving between apartments and houses with my mom. I constantly had nightmares when I was little, thus the last line.

Third Stanza: The "bittersweet  parade" is a metaphor for life.

Where I'm Going

Fourth Stanza:"Casting lots" stands for luck and fate (symbolism).

Fifth Stanza: "Rosin and string" is talking about playing the violin and how I hope maybe one day I can do more than just play it quietly in my room.

Sixth Stanza: "Hazel eyes like a ghost" is a simile. Life's cadets are the queens and pawns (as is stated in the poem). They're a metaphor for anyone. You, me, a stranger - anyone. We're all looking for what we love most (and in this case I was generally talking about happiness).

I hope this provided some insight.

Where I'm From (Isn't Where I'm Going)

 Where I'm from -

a ramshackle of a city,
in the midst of a frozen-over season,
to a house ever so gritty
and a family with no reason.

a childhood of mismatched streets,
apartments, swings, and video games
leading up to long naps under worn sheets
and nightmares full of flames.

mornings came, and seasons fade
all leading up to this day.
still yet we walk to that bittersweet parade,
never to reflect on the past with naivete.

Where I'm Going -

now summer nights are filled with heavy thoughts,
paperback novels, and my sister's sigh.
it's all a matter of casting lots
while my brothers are on standby.

memories remain evermore,
but dreams of rosin and string cast a flight
where others question whatever for
and those lights have never shined so bright.

words left unsaid cast silhouettes
of hazel eyes like a ghost.
only to be spared by hopes of life's cadets,
queens and pawns searching for what they love most.

The Last Human

Perhaps one day you woke up, only to find 100% reliable evidence that you were the last human on earth. Maybe you are not even the last - maybe you are the only human. Everyone else around you is an alien. So the golden question looms: what would you do?
I am here to give you the layout of what I would do (even if I have no clue how I found out). Firstly, I would carry on as if I knew nothing. How do I know everyone around me is not a potential threat? It is truly the only logical thing one can do. I will gather all the information I can on the aliens. I do not know if they are hostile - or if they know I am not an alien. Best to play it safe. After all, they are the ones with all the resources and power. Next, I shall make sure to keep all the evidence. It will not make much of a difference, but it is a nice comfort. I would begin to try to discover where all the humans vanished to. It seems quite odd that one day I woke up and the entire world was now populated with alien replicas of what was one humanity. If I can locate the rest of the human population, there might be some hope. Another question comes to mind: how long have they been here? It is a little saddening if they act exactly how humans do.
Anyway, do you have a game plan?

Supernatural (Spoilers)

Due to an unfortunate illness befalling me, I have not a single journal prompt to present you with. However, I do have a very interesting topic to discuss (or rather, rant) about: Supernatural. No, not the paranormal type. Yes, the television show.
Season ten is premiering this upcoming Tuesday. So many things happened in the season nine finale that I am overly excited to see what is going to follow. There has been trailers, sneak-peeks, still shots, and more to prepare us for the emotional wrecks I'm sure the writers are intending us to become. Firstly, we have the problem that Dean is now a demon - thanks very much to Crowley. I suppose we can't complain. After all, if Crowley hadn't brought him back we would have lost him for good and, perhaps, the last time (yes, I do mean he has been brought back before). Then again, we must keep in mind the ever-philosophic question: is it truly Dean? Despite his soul being intact, it is twisted. There is no demon possessing him. It's his own soul that is the demon now, taking a new twist on the old saying "a war withing." In my opinion, it is not truly Dean. Dean began dying the second he took on the Mark of Cain.
Secondly, we have another major problem: Castiel's fading Grace. Without his Grace, he is likely to die. Also, we all know how loyal Cas is to the Winchesters. Thus why it had been revealed that Cas is more concerned with Dean's soul than his own situation. I am very worried about Cas and what the fallout many be. However, I can not see the writers killing him off just yet. He is too important of a character (yeah, I know, I say that about all characters).
What do you think, fellow hunters? What are your opinions on the upcoming season?

Never Will I

Never Will I...

  • Ride the Top Thrill Dragster
  • Own too many sweaters
  • Own too little books
  • Ride on a plane (I'll take a train, thank you)
  • Go back to this haunted hospital...
Perhaps I ought to explain the last bullet point. You see, when I was about seven my aunt was in the hospital. Atlanta, Georgia has always had a reputation for hauntings, but I didn't expect to step off an elevator and onto an abandoned hospital floor.
We arrived quite late at night. Perhaps it was a weary mistake but somehow we ended up on the wrong floor. It was four floors down from the very top, which made it seem peculiar that no one was there - absolutely no one. I feel the need to emphasize this. Most of the lights were off, but the ones over the reception desks were still lit. Being only seven and having an overactive imagination, the whole experience was a bit petrifying. I tried to step off the elevator, but my uncle quickly stopped me. We made our way to the correct floor soon after.
I also just realized I would love to go back to that floor. Imagine the surreal black and white photographs I could capture. I love all things supernatural as well - so, really, it's quite perfect.
Anyone fancy a trip to a haunted hospital?

The Trio of Disaster

If you could invite any three people (fictional or real) for tea, who would you invite?
Well, I decided to make it quite a bit of an interesting gathering...
Firstly and foremost, I would invite the Doctor. I would try to reach the Ninth Doctor, but if any of the other regeneration want to come, too, that's fine (they are the same person, although this might lead to a bit of a paradox). We could all have tea in the Tardis since there's got to be a tearoom somewhere. It'd be grand to see the Tardis and maybe even fly it. Of course, I might end up crashing. I'd discuss absolutely everything with him whilst he'd get the Tardis mug. It'd be a shame if he didn't.
Secondly, I'd invite Sherlock Holmes. I like to think he'd show up if I perhaps sent him pictures of the Tardis. A mystery worth solving. He'd be so baffled - also a reason to invite him. There's no way we'd be able to make 'small talk' so in place of that we'd need to find a fascinating topic.
Lastly, I'd invite Castiel (I hope many of you are aware of who this is - if not, he's an angel from the show Supernatural). I would ask the Doctor to see if there was a way he could fix Castiel's fading grace.
This would be the biggest tea party of the decade, at least.

Yesterday's Gardening Adventure

Yesterday I participated in a group gardening project. Only it wasn't truly gardening - rather, it was the deconstruction of a garden. I, and many other classmates, helped to pull up the final remains of a fading garden on our local campus. The people running it generously let us take what we desired. A couple people quickly scrambled towards the baby tomatoes and kale. The rest of us took the brightly colored flowers. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me yesterday, so I was unable to get pictures of all the work we did. However, I took many flowers home and did a little photo-shoot for them on my front porch (no, you won't get to see them).
I have to say it was more fun than I expected it to be.

To Be Evangelical

"Evangelical" has several meanings. Today, we are talking about when one promotes something they love with a dedication. We all have that one thing we constantly try to get others interested in - rather it be a hobby, food, or a beloved television series.
I suppose I am evangelical about photography, given I have at least one camera on me at all times. I am constantly looking for interesting things to photograph. I often encourage my siblings to do the same. I came 'round to occupying this subject last winter.
I used to look at storm pictures when I was little and be amazed by the photographer's fortitude. I always admired how they seemed to mysteriously capture the perfect shot. It is, I suppose, literally capturing a moment; forever frozen withing a single frame. I have a shoe box nearing about three hundred photographs worth of content.
Photography is a common hobby among the human population. Many people are prone to this without realizing it - and that's okay.
Ta, ta, nightly bloggers.
